The chat system below should be regarded as temporary until a much more elaborate chat suite, which has been commissioned, is ready. The links immediately below are part of that new system, but as yet do nothing except link to other pages that show what the general structure will be like. In the meantime, just log in.
When you first load this page there will be a square box containing a letter J, indicating a Java applet. This will then disappear as the log in box for the chat system loads. Give it half a minute, then you should be able to log in.
A few people (well one so far) have reported an error message, when trying to load this page, making some reference to software security certificates. I believe this has to do with browser security settings that relate to scripts. It might also have to do with needing to update Java.
