The Peat Pit

The peat pit is just under 6 feet deep for an area of about 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 feet, and has a total surface area of roughly 14 by 14 feet. The mud is composed of peat moss all the way to the bottom..

Performers can approach the peat pit from four different directions, affording lots of variation in backgrounds. Three of these approaches plus one additional location can be used for camera locations.

The texture and color of the peat is light brown when dry and a darker brown when wet. This affords a particular intimidating look when filmed at night, especially when the lighting is given a flickering effect.

Of course, the addition of a simple prop or two can have a useful effect on the visual impact as well.
